The Cityview — Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong
Kowloon practicality with a social conscience — the YMCA-run Cityview trades glamour for space, calm and rates Hong Kong rarely offers.
The Deal
Yau Ma Tei location one minute from the MTR, rooms larger than most of Kowloon's mid-market, and profits flowing to YMCA community programmes. The green-wall lobby is nicer than the rate implies.
The Stay
Our room was quiet despite Nathan Road proximity, spotless and functionally furnished. The indoor pool and gym are honest extras; breakfast is adequate, but the Temple Street food scene outside is the real canteen.
What Works
- Room size rare at this Hong Kong price
- MTR and Temple Street on the doorstep
- Indoor pool in a budget-adjacent hotel
What Doesn't
- Functional rather than charming interiors
- Breakfast worth skipping for street food

Yes, for the price.
Maldron Hotel Parnell Square Dublin City
“Maldron's northside Dublin formula — new-build efficiency at the top of O'Connell Street, where two clean rooms and a fast check-in beat character on a one-night brief.”
IFC Residence
“Lujiazui living above the IFC mall — apartment space, hotel discipline and the Bund skyline delivered nightly through floor-to-ceiling glass.”
Aroma Tea House Formula Museum Hotel Guilin
“Part tea museum, part guesthouse, entirely Guilin — antique furniture, gongfu ceremonies at check-in and karst peaks a short stroll along the lake.”
